Most Anticipated Movies in 2011

In 2011, we will see huge franchises rolling out new installments, but it will also include a few original releases.

We find a sequel audiences didn’t even expect to happen anymore: the fourth film from the “Mission: Impossible” series, now going under the name of “Ghost Protocol.”

On April 15 comes another sequel fans didn’t even dare hope will ever be made: “Scream 4,” which will reunite the old cast and also bring on board countless young stars, many of them already popular for their work on TV.

We will also find the third and final film in the “Transformers” franchise. “The Dark of the Moon” comes out on July 1 and is highly anticipated for several reasons: first, it’s the last; secondly, is in 3D and, thirdly, it’s no longer with Megan Fox but with Victoria’s Secret model Rosie Huntington-Whiteley.

On June 2, “Cars 2” will come out and it will hopefully turn out to do the same for Pixar as “Toy Story 3,” the highest grossing film of 2010 and the biggest animated film ever..

On June 2, JJ Abrams unleashes upon the world “Super 8,” a film that has been kept much under wraps for most part of 2010, but whose existence has long been confirmed. Buzz about it is building online as we speak.

So far, moviegoers got only a teaser, which failed to show too much about the film: it did show, however, that a train containing “items” from Area 51 was derailed and something got out.

Up next on the most anticipated list are two superhero films that have been long in the making: “The Green Lantern” with Ryan Reynolds and “Captain America: The First Avenger” with Chris Evans. They’re out in theaters on June 17 and July 22, respectively.

The last installment of “Harry Potter,” “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part II,” comes first, representing the end of a very long, adventurous and, above all, record-breaking successful journey. Set your calendars for July 15: it’s the end of an era. In 3D, of course.

First International Poster: The Town

The Town is a film based on the novel "Prince of Thieves" by Chuck Hogan. The film is about Doug MacRay (Ben Affleck), a leader of bank robbers' group. Cruel and proud because they can steal almost everything and run away with being caught.

Doug was never afraid of losing someone close to him, because after all he never had a serious relationship. But everything changed when the group at last, were holding a bank manager named Claire Keesey (Rebecca Hall).

Although Doug and his friends let Claire unhurt, but she realized that the robbers knew her name and where she lived, it made her afraid. Then Claire met a guy named Doug who's simple and attractive.

Claire, of course not aware of Doug is actually the same man that terrorized her in the bank. Their attraction to each other will gradually transform into a passionate love once herded them into a dangerous and deadly situation.

"The Town" is written and directed by Ben Affleck himself. Screenplay for the film is written by Peter Craig (Waterbug) and Sheldon Turner (Up In The Air).

Scheduled to open on September 17th, 2010 will also be starring Jon Hamn, Jeremy Renner, Blake Lively, Pete Postlethwaite, Titus Welliver and Chris Cooper.

Inception: New Poster & Latest Trailer

Whiteout - See Your Last Breath!

Whiteout is based on the 1998 comic book of the same name by Greg Rucka and Steve Lieber. The film was produced under the banner of Dark Castle Entertainment by Joel Silver and Susan Downey, is directed by Dominic Sena, and stars Kate Beckinsale and Gabriel Macht in the lead roles. Whiteout is slated to be released on September 11, 2009.

Story: Carrie Stetko, the lone U.S. Marshal assigned to Antarctica, is investigating the continent's first murder, which draws her into a shocking mystery. The Taking of Pelham 1 2 3 (2009)

Choke (2008)

Saw 2 (2005)

Mas Tom's Review :
Sebetulnya kalau mau jujur, dengan beberapa alasan tertentu, aku nggak terlalu suka nonton film-film model begini di bioskop, selain karena durasi filmnya yang relatif pendek (cuma satu setengah jam), Saw 2 juga nggak bisa dikategorikan sebagai ‘film monumental’ yang wajib ditonton di bioskop seperti halnya trilogi Lord of The Rings, Star Wars, ataupun Gladiator misalnya…

Basically, cerita Saw 2 ini memang erat kaitannya dengan cerita film Saw yang merupakan prequel-nya. Makanya untuk temen-temen yang langsung nonton Saw 2 tanpa sebelumnya pernah nonton Saw pasti akan sedikit bingung, karena ada beberapa adegan dan alur cerita di film ini yang berkaitan erat dengan film pertama.

Jalan ceritanya sendiri cukup sederhana, 8 orang (4 pria dan 4 wanita) yang saling tidak mengenal terkurung di dalam sebuah rumah yang tidak diketahui lokasinya, mereka merupakan bagian dari ‘permainan’ hidup dan mati yang dirancang oleh Jigsaw, seorang pembunuh berantai yang juga psikopat jenius.

Salah satu tokoh wanita yang terkurung itu adalah Amanda, dia adalah satu-satunya orang yang berhasil lolos dari ‘permainan’ Jigsaw di cerita film pertama, tapi sialnya kembali terjebak untuk kedua kalinya dalam ‘permainan’ hidup dan mati ini.

Pada awal film, Jigsaw -yang aslinya ternyata adalah seorang kakek-kakek pengidap kanker- berhasil ditangkap di persembunyiannya oleh Detektif Matthews (diperankan oleh mantan personil NKOTB, Donnie Wahlberg). Dari situ juga baru diketahui kalau diantara 8 orang yang terperangkap dalam ‘permainan’ itu, salah satunya ternyata adalah putra Detektif Matthews.

Ketegangan pun dimulai, karena cepat atau lambat, satu-persatu dari 8 orang yang terperangkap itu pasti akan mati dengan mengerikan, baik oleh jebakan-jebakan maut yang dirancang oleh Jigsaw, atau mati karena menghirup gas beracun yang dialirkan ke seluruh rumah.

Sebagaimana ending dari film Saw, ending dari Saw 2 ini juga memberikan kejutan tersendiri, meski seperti dibilang rifie di komentar posting sebelumnya, untuk penonton yang mengikuti alur cerita dengan seksama sudah bisa menduga siapa dalang dibalik permainan ini, sekaligus membuka kemungkinan untuk dibuatnya Saw 3 sebagai sekuel berikutnya.

Singkatnya, film ini sebetulnya lumayan (terutama kalo suka film misteri / suspense… dan nggak takut dengan banyaknya adegan sadis, plus darah muncrat dimana-mana), tapi kalau menurutku sih masih lebih bagus dan menegangkan filmnya yang pertama, karena ending dari film Saw jauh lebih tidak terduga daripada Saw 2.

Radio host Erica Bain (Jodie Foster) is working and living a wonderful life in New York City without a care in the world. One night she and her fiancé, David (Naveen Andrews), are brutally attacked by three thugs in the park. David is killed and Erica is beaten within an inch of her life. Erica is traumatized to a point where she can not sleep and will not leave her apartment. To cope and work past this tragic event, Erica becomes someone else. She buys a gun and begins to roam the streets at night looking to take her revenge on the men who were responsible for killing her one true love. One late night, Erica is in the back of a convenience store about to purchase a soft drink when a man comes in and kills the woman clerk. She is a witness, and he comes after her. Erica protects herself and finds that it is very easy to shoot a gun. Days later, Erica is on the subway when she is about to be raped by two men, and again she protects herself. The City of New York is fascinated with the exploits of this vigilante killer, and NYPD Detective Mercer (Terrence Howard) is trying to catch this person, before he kills again. My Preview:
Sejak debut Oscarnya di The Accused (1988), Jodi Foster menjadi langganan berperan sebagai seorang wanita tangguh dan berkarakter seperti di film Flightplan (2005) dan Panic Room(2002). Dan sekarang di film terbaru besutan Neil Jordan ini Foster berperan sebagai wanita gagah berani yang menghukum pelaku2 kriminal.

Tokoh Erica Bain (Jodie Foster) tadinya hanyalah seorang Radio DJ dengan kehidupan yang lengkap dan cukup bahagia dimana karirnya berjalan lancar serta memiliki seorang tunagan yang mencintainya.

Tetapi kebahagian Erica serta merta lenyap dan merubah nasibnya ketika dia dan pacarnya diserang secara brutal oleh 3 orang kriminal di sebuah taman yang menyebabkan Erica terluka parah dan kekasihnya David (Naveem Andrews) meninggal.

Kejadian ini menyebabkan Erica terpuruk dalam trauma yang berat dan sangat menggangu hidupnya hingga akhirnya ia merasa muak dan kemudian mengambil keputusan yang sangat radikal, dengan berbekal sepucuk pistol Erica mulai menelusuri jalan-jalan di New York dan menghukum para pelaku criminal yang ia temui.

Konfliknya mulai memuncak ketika sepat terjang Erica mulai menarik perhatian publik dan penegak hukum, sementara Erica pun mulai larut dalam kebimbangan karena transformasi perilaku yang ia lakukan.

Melihat film-film Jodie Foster sebelumnya seperti Flightplan, Panic Room, The Silence of The Lambs, keliatannya The Brave One menjanjikan tontonan Thriller Drama yang seru dan layak tonton.
