Mary and Max - Sometimes perfect strangers make the best friends

Mary and MaxMary and Max is an animated film that uses stopmotion claymation techniques in making each picture. If this technique sounds weird, just remember films such as Flushed Away or Wallace and Gromit, or the MTV series, Celebrity Deathmatch, which also uses the same animation technique. Mary and Max himself directed by Adam Elliot, Oscar-winning director for his short animated film, Harvie Krumpet, in the year 2004.

The story is presented by Mary and Max himself and might sound a bit strange. It tells about the friendship between Mary (Collette), an 8-year-old girl who lives in Melbourne, with Max (Hoffman), a 44-year-old man who lives in New York. The bond of their friendship was created because they felt disconnected from the world, and through medium of correspondence they became very close.

The contents of this correspondence are so compelling, story-line rolling from sad to happy and dressing changes until the end of the story, and make it a good movie to watch. This film is more intended for adult audiences when ogled from the story line, it tells not only of the friendship between Mary and Max but also people surround them and it was about romance and family problems.

This movie has been selected as official opening night film 2009 Sundance Film Festival 2009. The voice talents are filled by some famous stars, like Toni Collette, Philip Seymour Hoffman and Eric Bana. This movie can be watched almost in every theater now. It was predicted that this movie has a chance to win an Oscar 2010 or at least being nominated.
